I live with White-Tail Deer on my rural property, so I have plenty of opportunities to study them. I learned that the Does often leave their well-camouflaged new born fawns in tall grasses or shrubbery, because the fawns have no odor for the first few weeks. Predators cannot smell them or see them during this critical time. They only become vulnerable when the Doe returns to feed them. This piece represents that moment when the doe mother returns. However, she has spotted something and raises her foreleg to stamp out a warning. Will the fawn be found? This was originally sculpted as a two-piece ensemble which included "Vigilance", the crouching cougar, but is available as an individual piece. Commission-only.
